Farmers

This is a new section of our website where we pay tribute to the hard work that goes on out in the field to get us all of our fresh local produce. Pictures are coming soon!

Earth Trine Farms:

This is always our first stop on our market journeys. BD is the brains behind Earth Trine Farms. He lives on the land he works in Ojai and farms with a bio-dynamic approach. He has his entire property planted and he grows just about everything you can think of. Things we buy from his farm are; all of our lettuce, all of our herbs, baby turnips, oranges, eggplant, melons, mustard greens, chard, kale, tomatoes, figs, beets, squash, radishes. He has always been very generous with his time when we go down to the farm. It is a pleasure to work with his produce.

Roots Farms:

Roots Farms is led by Jacob. He has high standards for his vegetables which makes our job of selection at the market easy because everything is always perfect.  Tomatoes, Potatoes, Peppers, Basil, Melons are just some of the things that we procure from Roots Farms.

Hilltop Canyon Farms:

Robert & Tessa work a beautiful piece of land just overlooking Rincon Point in Carpinteria. They are responsible for the many varieties of amazing heirloom shelling beans we use at Julienne. In addition to shell beans they farm avocados, lemons, eggplant & flowers.  Another family that we are happy to support.

Perez Family Farms:

Senor Perez & his wife have a piece of land in San Louis Obispo. He is a new stop on our circuit because of his quality carrots, fava beans, beets & summer squashes.

Givens Farms:

John Givens has 12 different plots just outside Goleta totaling over 175 acres. He grows all kinds of things from cauliflower, butternut squash, acorn squash, braising greens, carrots, strawberries, onions, broccoli, melons & potatoes. They provide fresh, local, organic produce all year long.

Domingo Farms:

Rudy is the man at Domingo Farms. We buy flowers, braising greens, spinach, fennel, lipstick peppers, and other seasonally available produce. Our current project is naturally fermented pickles with some of his pickling cucumbers.

The Cultured Abalone:

We recently took a field trip to visit Ben Beede, proprietor & mad scientist at the cultured abalone. His operation is so cool, words can't quite describe it. He is producing sustainable abalone in out-of-ocean aquariums on the Dos Pueblos Canyon Ranch. Pumping water from ¼ mile out and 40 feet deep he is raising abalone that range in age at the date of sale from 3 to 6 years old. His operation is beyond mind blowing. It is something that you must see to appreciate fully. Needless to say we are extremely lucky to have his product available for us to work with.
